Under the terms of his will, proved in 1782, Richard Welch senior left Hyde estate in trust to pay an annuity of £500 pa to his wife Lucreita Mary Welch and lump sums of £2000 to each of his daughters Mary, Elizabeth Lucretia, Favell, Jane and Georgina, the remainder to his eldest son Richard Welch junior. In fact, the legacies were not paid in full and the heirs were still owed money at 5% interest in 1834.
