Biography

MP for Brackley 1825-1832. Son-in-law and trustee and executor of John Blagrove (q.v.); son of Robert Haldane Bradshaw, the agent of the Duke of Bridgewater and Cornelia Thornhill Rowe; nephew and co-residuary heir of Capt. Thomas Rowe of Barbados (q.v.); and nephew of Augustus Hill Bradshaw (q.v.), with whom (together with Hugh Parkin, another son-in-law of Blagrove), James Bradshaw was reportedly awarded the compensation for 198 enslaved people in Hanover, Jamaica. However, James Bradshaw committed suicide in 1833. James Bradshaw appears in only one of the awards to Blagrove's executors and trustees, possibly in error.

  1. Married 2 July 1816, Eliza, daughter of John Blagrove of Abshot House, Hants and Jamaica.

  2. NB: This is not the same James Bradshaw, as Conservative politician and MP for Berwick-upon-Tweed, 1835-7, and Canterbury, 1837-47, and husband of Miss M. A. Tree, sister of Eleanora [Ellen] Tree Kean (celebrated actress and wife of Charles Kean, the actor).
