???? - 1811
John William Bovell died in 1811 at Plantation Haslinton [sic] in Demerara. The sons of John William Bovell of Barbados were awarded the compensation for the estate in the 1830s.
The will of Rebecca Brathwaite Bovell [formerly of the Island of Barbados] widow of Clifton Bristol was proved 04/05/1846. She directed that she should be 'opened' and her head and heart examined to ascertain the cause of the 'excruciating pain that I feel at times on my Brain and under my heart.' The will identifies Sir Reynold Abel Alleyne (q.v.) as her brother and John William Bovell [II] as her son.
John William Bovell [I] had first married Margaret Downes Nihell, the daughter of Michael Nihell of Barbados (q.v.). John William Bovell's brother-in-law was John Nihell formerly of Demerara but now of Devonshire Street Portland Place (q.v.), whose will was proved 31/08/1808 and who left his estate to his mother for life and then one moiety to be disposed by her and the other moiety to the Bovell family.
