Owner of Woodside in St Mary, Jamaica. Died in 1800 and was buried in the Woodside Anglican churchyard. The estate was inherited by his son William John Neilson, then a minor, and subject to an annuity to John's wife Frances Maidstone Neilson. By 1834 the annuity was in arrears and most of the slave compensation was awarded to Frances Maidstone Neilson.
