Biography

Sister of John Kelly of St Catherine (q.v.) and annuitant of £100 per annum for life secured on his estate. Her children were John Kelly's residuary legatees, inheriting Tamarind Grove and House Hill estates in Jamaica after the payment of legacies to John Kelly's reputed children.

  1. David Finlay, wigmaker in Tolbooth Kirk parish, and Margaret Kelly in Tron Kirk parish, daughter of Alexander Kelly, farmer at Newmills near Forres, married in Edinburgh 20/11/1774. They had nine children baptised in Edinburgh: Alexander (1775), Isabella (1779), David (1780), John (1781), Robert (1784), Elizabeth (1786), Mary (1787), Christian (1791) and Christian (1793). The baptism of David Findlay's eldest daughter gives his profession as wigmaker and that of his youngest daughter gives his profession as perfumer and wigmaker.
