Biography

Almost certainly the man shown as H.[sic] W. P. Audain, heir to the Charmouth estate and enslaved people on Dominica in 1832. Son of John Willett Audain, of Corsham Wiltshire whose will was proved 05/10/1833, and probably grandson of the bigamist and absentee Rector of Charmouth 'Rev.' John Audain, who appears in Henry Nelson Coleridge's Six months in the West Indies, in 1825.

  1. The Will of John Willett Payne Audain late of No 5 Lower Crescent Belfast Retired Colonel who died 3 September 1893 at same place was proved at Belfast by Emily Georgina Lloyd of Portballintrae County Antrim Widow one of the Executors, effects £1247 4s 3d.
