Biography

  1. William Augustus Dickson (1786-1842) was the son of William Dickson of Lasswade near Edinburgh, a brewer and distiller, and went to Jamaica to join his cousin Richard Dickson of Lucea in 1807. He retained property at Lasswade, which is mentioned in his will (dated 01/07/1839; proved 05/04/1842) and left to his son William Brown Dickson. The 1841 Census for Great Amwell, Hertfordshire, shows William Dickson, "Head Merchant," age 50, Ann Dickson, age 40, four younger Dicksons (presumably their children), Mary Brown, "Ind", 80, and four servants.William Augustus Dickson died in Lucea, Hanover, in 1842.
