Biography

Ann White or Whyte, and "her true mulatto children" Janet, Robert, David, Elizabeth, George, James, John and Maria Edmiston, were slave-owners in St Thomas-in-the-East, Jamaica, from at least 1817 to 1834. The baptisms of two of these children given them as "free quadroons". The children's father was probably Robert Edmiston senior Esquire, who held the life interest in these enslaved people.

Probably also the Ann White who registered enslaved people as guardian of James White McTaggart and Emmy McTaggart in St Thomas-in-the-East in 1817.
