1789 - 5th May 1873
Lawyer, senior partner in Forbes, Hale & Boys, Ely Place, awarded the compensation in several claims and involved as trustee or assignee and as agent in many more. It is not clear whether he was beneficial owner of enslaved people, although an indenture at the University of California Irvine suggests that in 1823 with Charles Kaye (q.v.) he purchased the Hampden estate and the enslaved people attached to it, reselling it (and them) in 1829.
Apprenticed to Richard Walter Forbes, a lawyer of Ely Place in 1805, when his father was shown as John Forbes.
J. H. Forbes of Ely Place, London was listed as a subscriber to Charles Shepherd's An Historical Account of the Island of Saint Vincent, published in 1832.
