Biography

Awarded the compensation for the enslaved people on Cane Wood as owner.

  1. Son of Francis Bell Grant and speaker of the House of Assembly in Barbados. In London during the slave compensation process, and died of 99 The Grove, Ealing in 1893 leaving £531 7s 6d.

  2. Susanna Charlotte Duke sold Cane Wood to John Glasgow Grant 1833 for £5,000 and Grant agreed to clear all debts. The appraised value of the estate (and presumably the enslaved people on it) was £3887.
