Francis Fane MP d. 1757

???? - 1757

MP for a series of constituencies between 1727 and 1757. He had lent £7000 to Edmund Akers secured on property on Nevis, a mortgage that appears to have passed to his brother Thomas Fane, 8th Earl of Westmorland (the deed dated 1763 refers to the debt as owed to 'Honourable Francis Fane now Earl of Westmorland').

Sources; Common Records 1763-1764, British Library, EAP794/1/1/8, p. 192. Vere Langford Oliver had picked up this latter reference, Caribbeana Vol. IV pp. 97-99, which show Francis Fane lending £7000 16/08/1754 to Edmund Akers against the plantation bought by Akers from George, James and Josiah Webbe, and in 1763 Fane selling the Bridgewater and Abbot estates in St Thomas subject to the mortgage then to the Earl of Westmorland.
