John Bennett, born 23/10/1800, son of John Richard Jones and Frances Sanches Wylie, baptised in St Elizabeth, Jamaica, 28/01/1801. His baptism appears under the heading "baptisms of persons not white". His father John Richard Jones was baptised in Westmoreland in 1779, son of William and Elizabeth Jones, "free mulattoes".
William Blake registered enslaved people in St Elizabeth in 1823 a trustee to a deed of trust of John R. Jones and Frances his wife to their children.
Five children baptised to John Bennett Jones and his wife Sophia Ann: Georgiana (1827, St Elizabeth); Theodora (1832, St James); Hughana (1833, St Elizabeth); Andrew Bennett (1836, St Elizabeth); and Daniel Bromfield (1843, St Elizabeth). At the baptism of his youngest child he was given as a planter of Salisbury.
Sophia Ann was the daughter of John Frederick Bromfield and Mary his wife baptised in St Elizabeth 04/04/1806. She inherited enslaved people from her grandfather Edward Mullings and owned enslaved people registered by her father John Frederick Bromfield in 1817, 1820, 1823 and 1826.
