Margaret Ann Simpson (née Forte or Foote)

???? - 1836

Claimant or beneficiary

Biography

Awarded the compensation for two estates in Barbados, in one certainly and in the other probably as executrix of John Simpson. Almost certainly the Margaret Ann Simpson of Bath who died in 1836.

  1. The will of Margaret Ann Simpson widow of Bath Somerset was proved 19/09/1836. In the will she refers to her 'faithful agents...Irlam & Higginson of Liverpool,' who were Barbados merchants. She left £1000 to her sister Sarah Bland and the bulk of her estate to her nephew Neville Loftus Bland (who died in 1867, leaving £30,000).

Sources

  1. PROB 11/1867/220; Ancestry.com shows a Margaret Ann Goodridge marrying a John Simpson. However, Burke's Irish Family Records (1976) p. 130 shows Sarah Bland, the mother of Neville Loftus Bland, as nee Foote [sic], the daughter of Samuel Foote [sic] of Demerara. These latter two references might conceivably refer to Forte and Samuel Forte, although 'Foote' is supported in other genealogical records for the family. The will of Thomas Ashburner proved in 1802 identified Margaret Ann Simpson as his 'sister by marriage.'
