Joseph Tharp of Hanover, planter. Estate probated in Jamaica in 1749. Slave-ownership at probate: 40 of whom 23 were listed as male and 17 as female. 0 were listed as boys, girls or children. Total value of estate at probate: £1475.25 Jamaican currency of which £1048 currency was the value of enslaved people. Estate valuation included £0 currency cash, £57.5 currency debts and £3.5 currency plate.

Tentatively identified as the son of John Tharp II of Hanover. He married Margaret Frost of Westmoreland, and died in 1744, predeceasing his father: much of his father John Tharp II's property passed to Joseph Tharp's son John Tharp IV.
